I'm Daniel Barták, a composer based in Prague writing music for film, television, stage, and singers. I trained as an actor at the Prague Conservatory and have performed in dozens of productions — so before I write a single note, I already know what it feels like to stand on the other side of the barricade too.

• Film & Television
  I composed and arranged the original music for the series Sanitka 2, the feature film The Self Lover, the fairy tale A Wizard Called Rye and many more. As an arranger, I also contributed to the music for the popular series Policie Modrava and Zdivocela zeme. I see music as part of the storytelling itself, and drawing on my experience as an actor, singer, and director, I build it on the story's own foundation. My goal isn't simply to compose music, but to help tell the story and deepen its emotional impact.

• Stage & Musicals
  My original musical The Mefisto premiered at Prague's Hybernia Theatre and continues to be produced internationally. In it I also played the lead role of Andreucio — a performance that earned me the "Best Male Performance in a Leading Role" award at South Korea's international DIMF festival. Writing, producing, and performing in the same show taught me to sense what an audience is actually feeling in the moment — something no score alone can teach you. I've written the original musicals The Little Prince and The Canterville Ghost, and created arrangements and recordings for productions such as Baron Münchhausen, Romeo and Juliet, The Snow Queen, Casanova, and Nunsense.

• On Air & Beyond
  You may know me from the Czech TV show “Hvezdy u piana” (The Lyrics Board TV show), where I played piano and co-hosted alongside Helena Vondrackova and Petr Vondracek. Over the years I've composed, arranged, or recorded for artists including Josef Vojtek, Jiri Korn, Karel Gott, Jirina Bohdalova, Hana Zagorova, Michal David, Monika Absolonova, and Vojtech Dyk — A constellation of Czech voices that helped shape the works I was part of. I also direct; what began as a natural extension of my work for the stage has quietly become another way to pass on the stories I carry.
